About Ken Chisholm

Sydney native Ken Chisholm began writing songs in junior high inspired by Cape Breton songwriters Leon Dubinsky and Alistair MacGillvray (who taught Chisholm guitar for one year). Several of his songs were featured in various editions of The Cape Breton Summer Time Revue when Dubinsky was musical director. His song, “Company Town”, was featured on both a Fifth Estate television documentary and an award winning CBC-Radio documentary. Chisholm was also featured on the first Load of Wood compilation album. He also writes plays, fiction, and arts and cultural journalism. “Do Whatever It Takes” was originally written for a stage production, “Steel and Coal: Work and Protest”, conceived and directed by Megan MacDonald. “Stand Up For Justice”, featured on the first volume of Cape Breton Island Protest Songs, was also performed in that production.
